I concluded the best option for me, was to jump in at the deep end and go for an ITT training course.

My main take away from my training has definitely been that schools and, especially, classrooms are complex systems with many different parts interconnected.

One of the most important things to remember is that every course is different, even those with the same name.

For those of you reading this who are thinking of training to teach or are training, take my word for it and learn from my mistakes, you do NOT have to be “perfect”. Effective, present and enthusiastic is enough.

If a KS4 or KS5 student asked you to suggest a book on mathematics to read, what would you recommend?

This scholarship workshop was a fantastic opportunity for me to improve my skills and keep busy when I’m not in school and it has made me look forward to going back to my students with more new and exciting activities.
