Overall, I found the application process straight forward and effective. My main piece of advice would be to take your time with your application, especially your personal statement, to give yourself the best chance of securing those interviews.

Among all the resources I have used since starting my teacher training, there are three online tools that I have discovered to be very useful in helping me teach mathematical concepts and in engaging the students’ interest.

My first term as a trainee mathematics teacher has been challenging and exhausting, but immeasurably rewarding. I believe that being a secondary mathematics teacher is one of the best jobs you can have, but when choosing a career, you also need to be realistic.

Knowing that I have impacted many young people’s lives during my placement is a reward in itself. Throughout my experience so far, I could pinpoint more than one moment that I felt I had changed the mindset of a student, or acted as a positive influence.

Technology can be used as a hook to start a lesson, a fun, interactive way to assess learning, or to model solutions and representations to mathematical problems. Including technology in our teaching enriches these lessons.
