When I first decided to apply for teacher training, there were so many options over how to do it, it seemed like a bit of a minefield.

Katie Liddell talks about her first teaching experience as a maths scholar.

I understood that the IMA has high expectations from us and that we get the opportunity to learn from incredible mathematicians and people. That is why I am thankful to be now part of it.

This lesson was great because it taught the students all that I had planned in a way that hopefully they will remember and showed them that the sound of maths isn’t just pencil on paper but spoons dropping on a table.

It was my desire to be successful in gaining a scholarship to help me fulfil my ambition to be a fully qualified teacher.

Sitting at home with my laptop, I had a handful of Lego by my side. Not my usual Saturday morning!
