Session: Inspiring Students With Real-Life Contexts And Core Maths - with Elizabeth Hopker‑Blunt (Maths Education Support Specialist at MEI, the Core Maths Resources Lead and member of the Core Maths PD team at the AMSP) 

About the Session

In this lively and interactive session, we will explore Core Maths and get hands on with some activities that you can use to inspire and support students studying maths. We will also reflect on simple ways to embed real life scenarios into your lessons, with activities based on authentic context. You will also find out more about students’ options post GCSE and how you can encourage more of them to continue studying maths. 

About the Speaker

As a Maths Education Support Specialist at MEI, the Core Maths Resources Lead and member of the Core Maths PD team at the AMSP, Liz provides national support for secondary and post-16 maths. Liz draws from her experience teaching at secondary level, and all ages post-16, developing and leading CPD, managing and maintaining teacher networks and leading action research. Liz is also in charge of developing teaching and learning resources for the Core Maths Platform.
