The A-Z Of Maths Careers
Studying maths opens lots of exciting doors for your pupils – the range of potential career paths is huge. Choosing Maths A Level or a Maths Degree keeps options open, and leads to lots of interesting possibilities. Some pupils find it hard to get their head around this flexibility, as they are used to degrees like medicine which lead down a more obvious path.
As well as there being lots of possible career options, studying maths also scores extremely highly in terms of how much graduates earn – see this article on the earning potential of mathematicians.
To help get your pupils thinking about careers, we’ve created an A-Z list of 26 ideas, but we hope that this is just a starting point. Due to the restrictions of the alphabet, there are lots of others we would have loved to have included.
Get Your Pupils Involved
You could also ask pupils to make their own A-Z maths careers list. Our list focuses on jobs which are popular with people who have studied an A Level in Mathematics or a Mathematics Degree. Alternatively, you could create an A-Z list which shows how maths is needed in every job, from working in the police, to hairdressing and building.
