We’re thrilled to announce that the Mathematics Teacher Training Scholarships will be back for an eleventh year. We have 270 Maths Scholarships to award to those starting their initial teacher training in 2023/24, who have a passion for mathematics and want to share their knowledge with others – inspiring young minds in the classroom.
The financial incentives for 2023/24 have been announced today (11 October 2022) and those awarded a awarded a Maths Scholarship they will receive a tax-free bursary of £29,000.
A Maths Scholarship also opens up a world of CPD, networking and knowledge sharing opportunities. This includes complimentary membership of key mathematical societies, providing access to a wealth information regarding the latest developments in mathematics and maths education to help inspire and support teachers in their role. Our CPD events provide opportunities for Maths Scholars to hear from inspirational speakers, take away resources and talk to experienced maths teachers, developing personal networks which will last a lifetime and give them confidence to progress in their career.
Our support to Maths Scholars does not stop at the end if their initial teacher training year! All Scholars are invited to become Alumni once their training year is over, meaning that the Scholar community includes brand new Scholars, as well as experienced teachers, some of whom could have been teaching for eight years. Invitations to select CPD events are extended to members of our Alumni, to carry on their professional development and continue the networking opportunities. By showing the Alumni that they are part of a wider mathematical teaching community we can encourage them to seek advice, support and help as needed.
The Maths Scholarships Team is currently working behind the scenes preparing to open applications, which we are aiming to be in January 2023. To be the first to be informed about the confirmed opening date, you can either:
